Anthropic Targets the Enterprise Gap with Claude Duet
By leveraging 6,000 integrations and a new security classifier, Anthropic positions its latest agent as a specialized tool for professionals rather than a general-purpose personal assistant.

More than 6,000 distinct connectors and plug-ins form the backbone of Claude Duet, the new agent-based application launched by Anthropic. This extensive network of integrations, accessible via the Claude Marketplace, represents a significant strategic pivot for the company as it enters a crowded market of AI assistants. The sheer scale of this connectivity is designed to appeal directly to professionals and small businesses who require their AI tools to function seamlessly within existing digital ecosystems.
The primary objective of Claude Duet is to automate and manage complex tasks for business users, distinguishing it sharply from the wave of personal agents that have dominated recent headlines. Anthropic explicitly differentiates Duet from consumer-focused rivals by noting that it is not optimized for handling personal errands or booking tickets. Furthermore, the agent does not provide a real-time view of its browser usage, a feature common in other products. Instead, the system is engineered to build daily briefings, generate data dashboards, and propose strategic actions based on the user’s existing data sets.
A key operational feature of the new agent is its ability to execute tasks in the background. Utilizing its own virtual machine, Claude Duet can process work while the user continues with other activities. It will only interrupt the user when a specific step requires human approval. This asynchronous workflow is intended to reduce the cognitive load on professionals, allowing the AI to handle routine processes without constant oversight.
The timing of this launch coincides with a broader industry shift from simple conversational assistants to autonomous agents that can act on a user’s behalf. While competitors like Meta and OpenAI have focused heavily on business use cases, their approaches vary. Meta’s Muse, for instance, serves as a personal assistant but includes a version tailored for small businesses with app connections. Similarly, OpenAI’s Dots emphasizes business integration with professional tools. Anthropic’s entry intensifies this competition, particularly against other emerging players like Hark, Instinct, Grok Bot, and Fo.
From a technical standpoint, Claude Duet is built on the Claude Opus 5.5 model. This foundation allows the agent to proactively monitor ongoing tasks and deliver recommendations without waiting for explicit prompts. The system also offers financial functionality, enabling it to make online purchases on behalf of users through Stripe’s Link digital wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay. However, Anthropic has set clear boundaries on its financial capabilities; the agent can initiate payments but will not trade securities or transfer money between bank accounts.
Security and privacy remain central to the product's design. To address concerns about data leakage, Anthropic released a new classifier that examines every message for sensitive information. By default, the agent is programmed to reject requests that ask for credit card numbers or government identification. For any sensitive steps, such as completing a payment, the system requires explicit user approval, ensuring that the AI does not act beyond its granted permissions.
Claude Duet is currently available as an application for iOS and Android devices, as well as on the web through Claude.ai. Access is restricted to Pro and Max customers who are participating in a research preview. Users interested in testing the platform must join a waitlist, indicating that Anthropic is taking a controlled approach to its rollout. This staged launch allows the company to refine the agent’s performance and gather feedback from early adopters before a wider release.
As the AI landscape continues to evolve, the distinction between personal and professional agents is becoming increasingly important. Anthropic’s strategy suggests a belief that specialized, business-focused tools will capture significant market share in the coming years. By combining deep integration capabilities with robust security measures, Claude Duet aims to establish itself as a reliable partner for small businesses and professionals navigating an increasingly automated work environment.
